Ductwork and Hot/Cold Spots in Your Home
Some homes have ductwork that does not evenly distribute the conditioned air throughout the home. This is often the case when a home has been built on to, and the duct simply extended out to cover the new square footage. It also happens when an HVAC contractor does not truly understand "static pressure" and the science associated with distributing conditioned air.
Reliant understands the science of distributing air, and belives you should enjoy balanced comfort throughout your home. There are things we can do to help improve the balance throughout your home. Some examples include:
- We listen to you and ask you the right questions like, "is your home comfortable throughout or do you have hot and cold spots?"
- We take measurements and ensure you have sufficient supply and return air capacity to match your furnace.
- If appropriate, we recommend a multi-stage system with a variable speed blower motor. Like a ceiling fan, this keeps the conditioned air moving passively throughout your home even when the thermostat is satisfied, improving balance and comfort.
- Where the existing duct is not/can not be properly balanced for the heating and cooling load, or when homeowners want more temperature control for a given area of the home, we install zoning. Zoning allows one system to be installed with multiple thermostats, allowing each zone to be controlled separately.
- Under extreme conditions, sometimes the best answer is to replace some or all of the ductwork.
The best time to ensure balance throughout the home is when the home is being built. IF that did not hapen, Reliant has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to deliver the balanced comfort you should expect from your home heating and cooling system.
